In 1990, Domaines Barons de Rothschild (DBR), owners of Lafite, acquired L’\u00c9vangile from the Ducasse family. The goal was to ensure continuity in care and longevity of the estate, improve quality, and update the winery\u2019s facilities and the vineyard’s health. DBR\u2019s influence had immediate results with a more refined selection for the first label and the creation of an entry-level label or Second Vin, Blason de L’\u00c9vangile. The full restoration took place starting with the 2002 vintage. L’\u00c9vangile is a wine made with 80% Merlot and complemented by Cabernet Franc, from a 16-hectare vineyard planted on sandy clay and gravel with an iron-rich subsoil.
