Château La Mission Haut-Brion dates back to the 17th century, located in the municipality of Talence, south of Bordeaux in the Pessac-Léognan wine region. Since 1983, it has belonged to Domaine Clarence Dillon. Its vineyard, covering around 30 hectares, occupies a large terrace of high-quality gravel. Haut-Brion is the oldest and smallest among all the châteaux classified as Premiers Grands Crus in 1855. La Mission, among its “satellite” properties, is undoubtedly the one that offers the greatest consistency in quality vintages. La Mission Tinto Cru Classé is made with 53% Merlot and the remainder Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, from vineyards averaging 30 years old, planted on gravel soils with a clay-sandy subsoil. It ferments in stainless steel vats and ages for 18-22 months in French oak, three-quarters of which are new barrels.
