Until 1832, the vineyards of Château Cheval Blanc belonged to the Figeac estate, the year Ducasse purchased the 16 hectares. In the following years, they expanded to the current 37 hectares with the descendants of the Fourcaud-Laussac family. Today, it is part of the Bernard Arnault (LVMH) and Albert Frère group. Château Cheval Blanc 1er Grand Cru Classé “A” is among the top eight red wines of Bordeaux and is undoubtedly considered the best wine of Saint-Émilion. It is made with 60% Merlot and the rest Cabernet Sauvignon and Franc, from vineyards averaging 40 years old, planted on gravel and clay soils. It ferments in cement vats and ages for 18 months in new French oak barrels.
