Mont Rubí is a winery within the DO Penedès (Alt Penedès), located at the base of the old Cooperative building in the town of l’Avellà (dating back to the 18th century). With new ownership in the mid-80s of the last century, their wines gained fame through the work of recovering ancestral Catalan varieties, especially Sumoll. Gaintus Vertical is a single-varietal Sumoll that, after fermenting in stainless steel tanks, ages for 12 months in French oak barrels and an additional 2 years in the winery before being marketed. The vineyard was planted in the 80s on slate soil.
