Mont Rubí is a winery within the DO Penedès (Alt Penedès), located at the base of the old Cooperative building in the town of l’Avellà (dating back to the 18th century). With new ownership in the mid-80s of the last century, their wines gained fame through the work of recovering ancestral Catalan varieties, especially Sumoll. El Serres Velles Tinto Carinyena is a single-varietal wine made from this grape with minimal intervention, which ferments in stainless steel tanks with delicate and gentle extraction, then stabilizes and ages for a minimum of 6 months in multi-use French oak barrels, without added sulfites throughout the process. The vineyard was planted in 1973 on calcareous soils.
